Director of Research
Suzgo has five years’ experience in designing and implementing inter-disciplinary research. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Development Studies at the University of Malawi. Previously Mr Ngwira has worked with various institutions (both local and international) as a research associate and Monitoring and evaluation officer. Mr Ngwira has worked with the University of Connecticut as a project manager for the social welfare policy study which was conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Public Opinion and Research. Mr Ngwira has also worked with the Governance and Local Development Institute at the University of Gothenburg department of Political Science where he was a project manager for the members of parliament study in Malawi. Mr Ngwira has also co-managed a project on smartphones in Malawi under College of William and Mary and Michigan State university. He has also managed the National citizen satisfaction survey under the governance to enable service delivery project (GESD) which was sponsored by the World Bank through the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGC). Mr Ngwira has also facilitated a USAID funded workshop for strengthening higher education institutions in Malawi. Apart from the academic qualifications Mr Ngwira has also attended numerous professional trainings and workshops for instance he has successfully completed an online workshop for statistical data analysis for post graduates using R-Studio that was organized by the University of Makerere
Research Associate
Thokozani holds a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. She is a professional practitioner in development, gender, and research, with a multicultural background primarily in Malawi, as well as other parts of southern Africa and Kenya in East Africa. Her experience spans working with rural, peri-urban, and urban communities, addressing various social issues. She is well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with a particular expertise in qualitative research. Over the years, she has contributed to numerous research projects in roles such as enumerator, consultant, and team lead for organizations including UNICEF, Save the Children, WaterAid, and the Malawi government. Thokozani's social research experience covers a broad range of issues affecting livelihoods, including HIV, water, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, menstrual health management, climate change, child development, gender, and reproductive health. In addition, she has hands-on experience in rural and community development, as well as women's empowerment initiatives. A feminist and creative writer, Thokozani has a deep interest in women's issues and activism. Her work reflects a commitment to social change and advocacy for gender equality.
